For background information, see: About the Scheduler |
RIS has several ways to manage the scheduling so that overbooking does not occur, patient exams do not overlap, etc.
A patient who is already scheduled cannot be scheduled for another exam at the same time.
If exams must be done in a specific sequence, the scheduling rules decide the order. For example, if a Nuclear Medicine series must be performed, exams must be done in a certain order and within a certain timeframe.
Since most exams require a specific type of resource, the rules define which resources go with which exam type. For more information on specifying resources, see Working with Multiple Resource Scheduling.
A pregnant patient scheduled for anything other than an ultrasound exam will be tagged with an error indicator.
