The Audio Wizard adjusts the audio settings according to the environment the author is dictating in for the best possible sound quality. This helps improve recognition results.
The audio wizard should be run once per workstation, not per user. It is a good idea to run the audio wizard again if recognition results at a specific workstation are poor.
Select Tools>Audio Wizard.
The wizard will take you through configuring your speakers and microphone.
The Recording Volume Adjustment screen allows you to adjust the playback volume – typically it is set at high, which is normal.
You will need to read aloud the paragraph displayed on your screen several times, starting each subsequent reading immediately after you finish the earlier reading. Continue reading until the system beeps.
For best results, hold the Speech Microphone about 8–12 cm (3–5 in.) from your mouth and keep this at a consistent distance (make this the distance you normally use). The most important point is to be consistent and not to change the distance. Use this step and dictate with the same background noise and environment.
